Healthy? Meh

As you are all probably aware, there is this "eat healthy" craze going on lately. And I, as a conformist of society, have started to follow it as well. It's not the bad-some of the food is actually amazing. I run, if you don't know that yet. Cross country, as well as track. I haven't always been stellar with what I eat. But trust me, if you are an athlete (or even if you're not), eating better will make life better. Therefore, I present you with a recipe that I have found and tried. And enjoyed.

ROASTED SALMON WITH SPICY CAULIFLOWER

Roasted Salmon with Spicy Cauliflower

ENJOY!

Ingredients

  • 4 garlic cloves
  • 2 to 4 anchovy fillets (optional)
  • 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon red-pepper flakes
  • Coarse salt and ground pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons anchovy oil (from can of anchovies) or olive oil
  • 1 head cauliflower (about 2 pounds), cored and cut into large florets
  • 4 skinless salmon fillets, (6 to 8 ounces each)
  • 4 thin lemon slices, halved, plus 4 wedges, for serving

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Gather garlic, anchovies (if using), and red-pepper flakes into a pile. Using a chefs knife, coarsely chop; season generously with salt. Using flat side of knife blade, mash mixture into a paste.
  2. Place paste into a large bowl; add oils, and mix to combine. Add cauliflower, and toss to coat. Spread mixture in a single layer on a large rimmed baking sheet. Roast until starting to soften, about 15 minutes.
  3. Season salmon with salt and pepper. Remove baking sheet from oven; push cauliflower to sides, and place fillets in the center. Arrange two half-slices of lemon on each fillet. Return to oven; bake until fish is opaque throughout, 10 to 15 minutes. Serve with lemon wedges.

Shoes!

Haven't written in a while, yes, I know. But you know how it is. School keeps you busy and then you have no strength for anything. September is here! Boy, does time fly by fast or what. I was bored this morning (yes, I actually had time to be bored) and searched through...shoes. Boots, sandals, heels, everything. To be honest, I could care less about handbags, but shoes...oh, how I love them! So I've decided to share some of my findings with you today.

Colorful Trousers

Well, as a lot of us do today, I spend a lot of my time on Tumblr, Pinterest, the works. When I'm bored I also look through what chain clothing stores and top designers are putting out there for us trend-following victims to follow. It seems that everywhere I look, there are colorful pants or leggings of some sort. Neon, pastel, patterned, you name it. Gone are the days where having ripped blue denim was considered cool. Personally, I love these different colors and patterns. I say the wackier and more odd, the better. After all, who plays it safe in fashion?

Model WannaBe...

So, I've been wanting to be a model for a while now. But lemme tell ya. It is just so hard. I'm not the prettiest  out there, and I'm not an anorexic giraffe. Sorry if that offended anyone, but it's true, I'm only 5 ft 6, not 5ft 9 or 10, and I don't weigh 110 pounds, either(not that I ever want to). Below are just a couple pics of my amateur ass. Lemme know what you think. Thanks :)

Trendy...or not?

So, I know that I recently posted the "latest trends of Autumn 2012", or something along the lines of that. Yes, I do like searching through a few trends here and there, but I also just dance to the beat of my own drum as well. The office look is in this fall. Something which I would never wear, to be honest, unless I had an office job. Fashion can be bought, yet style one must possess. I've decided to just post a few looks/ outfits, what have you, that I like and would gladly wear, whether it is "in" or not. I also believe that we don't need to spent hundreds, or even thousands of dollars, to look good. As long as the piece is decently made and we like how it looks, does it matter if it cost $10 or $10000? I think not.

Randomness and Immaturity!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't really know what to post about today so I decided to be really random. In case you didn't know, I turned 18 last month. And let me tell you. I like being legal and everything, but it's kinda a scary thought. I am an adult and fully responsible for myself. To all the kids that wanna be older....trust me, ya don't. Being a kid is awesome. You don't have to worry about anything and you can be immature as hell without having people look at you weird. So on that note, take the time to be random and immature sometimes. Think like a kid, act like a kid. Be a kid.

Fall 2012 Fashion Trends...

So, I know that it's a bit too early to think about colorful leaves, sweaters and Halloween but I thought I might post a little something. I wasn't feeling so hot today and spent most of my day in bed, on my computer, and I more or less got a glance at what will be trending this fall. For those of you interested but too lazy to research , this one's for you.

1. Ponchos. It doesn't matter what color, pattern, material or length it is. Ponchos are in this season. Wear them with tight skirts or skinny jeans, to create a contrast with wide ponchos.

Gucci, Just Cavalli, Moschino, Elie Saab

2. Black skin. Black skin from head to toe is all in this autumn. Don't go overboard with the accessories, though. Keep it simple and to a minimum. Don't show too much skin, though. You'll look trashy instead of classy.

Ferretti, Sportmax, Trussardi, Valentino

3.  Orange, orange, and...oh yeah, orange. Anything orange and reminding one of autumn leaf colors is in. Brunettes will probably look best in this color. If you want to add any touches to your outfit, make sure to choose a black accessory.

4. Suits. If you work in an office, this one's for you. Any color or material will do. Accessorize as much as you wish with shoes, bags, and jewelry.

John Richmond, Bottega Veneta, Chanel, Fendi

5. Welcome to the dark side...in other words, any science-fiction or fantasy, dark character-like outfit is great this season. Some advice? It might not look so flattering during the day, but perfect for a Halloween party.

Moschino, Versace, Givenchy, Vivienne Westwood

6. 60's and (groovy) 70's. Strong colors, patterns, and pop/hippie style is all in this season. In the fall, the days get shorter and nights longer, and we all feel a little down. This is perfect for brightening up our wardrobe and moods.

Prada, Blugirl, Emporio Armani, Miu Miu

7. Yeti style fur. Now, I know that there are mixed feelings about wearing fur. I personally choose not wear real fur. It does, however, make an outfit sometimes, and I go with fake fur. There is some decent looking fake fur out there. Whatever your opinion may be, fur is in this season. And I'm not talking Hollywood glamour style fur, I mean big, hairy, Yeti style fur. If you're slim, you'll look good. If you have a little extra baggage, I don't recommend this trend; it'll make you look bigger.

DKNY, Fendi, Mulberry, Matthew Williamson

8. Back to medieval times and gothic style. Interesting. And a perfect look for evenings. If you're in love with gothic times, knights in shining armour and such, you'll love this. Careful! Don't wear dresses that go all the way down to the ground because instead of an eye-catching outfit you'll look like you're wearing a costume.

That's all for now. Did I miss anything? Do you like this post, is there anything I should change? Enjoy and let me know by leaving a comment below. Thanks!
